Landscapes
This series is a result of compositing appropriated photographs of geological sites and categories associated with traditional landscape imagery.
As a photographer, I had pursued the creation of my own landscape photos in a very similar vein. I had been struck by how often photographers will assemble, year after year, at very similar if not identical locations to capture the “ideal” image of a famous site. Even sites without acclaim, but that represent an archetype of their category (such as valleys, gorges, canyons, etc.), are often composed in a very similar manner. I was interested in how the overlapping images would interact to reveal their similarities and differences.
